Printmaking for school teachers

This programme is specifically aimed at teachers who would like to introduce printmaking into their classrooms with students at any age level.
It is also suitable for those interested in developing their personal interests and passions.
This class covers monotyping, monoprinting, drypoint etching, collagraph, linocutting and screenprinting processes.

PROGRAMME

Day 1

Guests are expected to arrive in the afternoon after 2 pm.
You will be met in Torre de Passeri where coaches from Rome airports stop; if you are coming from Pescara, we can pick you up at at Torre de Passeri train station.
Time to settle in, unpack and relax a bit before we all meet up and have an aperitif together, while your host Colleen gives you an overview of the days to come.

Day 2

Learn how to roll ink and create rainbow effects and print in a variety of ways adding stencils and found materials to add texture such as using leaves, fabric or lace. The afternoon will be spent learning easy techniques in monotyping which can be used for printing without using a press. Experiment with bag printmaking for background texture effects.

Day 3

We will explore the potential of waterbased colours and work with waterbased felt tip pens as well as watercolours in pans.
You will create numerous prints during this day - some of which will also be re-used in combination with linocut.

Day 4

Easy screenprinting: create your own screen and learn how to print simple patterns created with a stencil or by painting directly onto your screen. This technique can be used with children ages 6+ and can be also be used to print on a t-shirt or tote bag.
We will also work on Pop Art silkscreen printmaking to create an Andy Warhol Style edition of prints. In the afternoon we will go on a half day excursion to visit Medieval churches, a medieval village and castle.

day 5

Linocutting: learn how to carve and create works with multiple colours using one single block (reduction linocutting). Use a combination of techniques to print lino using waterbased or oilbased inks.

day 6

Learn how to make a drypoint print, ink it and use it as a base for monoprinting.

day 7

Collagraph printing and end of all projects

day 8

After breakfast, it is time to say goodbye, taking home new skills and a memorable experience.
